About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Manager, Risk Data Science with a keen focus on account takeover, payment risk, stolen financials, and scam prevention. In this role, you will lead our efforts to fortify our platform against sophisticated threats and fraudulent activities. Your analytical prowess and strategic insights will be crucial in developing robust defenses to protect our customers and our operations.

What You'll Do

• Develop and oversee an analytics-driven risk management framework focused on preventing account takeovers, payment fraud, financial data theft, and scams.
• Lead a specialized team of data scientists in examining patterns and trends that could indicate fraudulent activity, employing machine learning and behavioral analytics.
• Create predictive models that help preempt fraudulent transactions and account compromise incidents.
• Work with product and engineering teams to embed advanced fraud detection and prevention mechanisms into our user experience.
• Design and implement layers of risk control to safeguard customer financial information.
• Oversee the monitoring of transactions and user behavior for signs of unauthorized account access, financial data theft, and scam activities.
• Continually evaluate the effectiveness of current risk controls and recommend enhancements.
• Stay informed on the latest cyber threats and scam tactics targeting the financial services sector and adjust our risk mitigation strategies accordingly.
• Conduct in-depth investigations into reported or detected fraud cases to understand the modus operandi and prevent recurrence.
• Communicate complex risk scenarios and strategic solutions to senior management and other stakeholders.

Your Background

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.).
• 10+ years of experience in risk management with a focus on online fraud, cybersecurity, or financial crime, including leadership experience.
• Proven expertise in data analytics as it relates to fraud detection, ideally within the money transfer or financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of account security, payment systems, and anti-scam methodologies.
• Proficiency in data mining and analysis tools (SQL, Python, R) and familiarity with machine learning techniques.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate data insights into strategic actions.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing analytical talent in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to report risk insights effectively to all levels of the organization.
