The Problems You’ll Solve
As a Software Engineer I (E2) at Carta, you will contribute significantly to building a world-class compensation solution. Working alongside Data Scientists, Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers, you will focus on specific components and features of our product. Your role will involve hands-on development and collaboration, helping to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our users.
Key Responsibilities:

Actively participate in the development and implementation of features within the team
- Engage in the team’s scoping and planning exercises
- Strong communication skills and be able to write clear and concise technical documentation

Contribute to identifying and resolving performance issues in the system, optimizing code, and refining database queries.

Support technical initiatives, following industry best practices for code quality and testing.
- Work towards being a technical leader and take ownership of the work you do
Engage in cross-functional collaboration, receiving mentorship from senior engineers, and providing input and support to your team.
About You

Technical expertise: 2 years of professional software development experience with proficiency in relevant Reach and FE libraries/frameworks. Keen to grow your skills in technologies such as Python, PostgreSQL, and basic architectural principles.
- Aesthetic and user-focused design: A keen eye for design and user experience, understanding how to translate design wireframes into high-quality code that aligns with visual design and UX principles.
- Responsive and interactive web development: Experience in developing responsive web applications and understanding of frontend fundamentals along with RESTful systems.

Team collaboration and communication: Developing strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Problem-solving and critical thinking: Demonstrated ability to contribute to solving technical challenges within your scope, thriving in a dynamic environment. You are growing in understanding the full application lifecycle, from technical requirements to final implementation. Ability to tackle frontend challenges, adapting to changing requirements and learning new technologies as needed.

Salary
Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:
- $123,250 - $145,000 in San Francisco, CA; Santa Clara, CA
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
