About the project:
We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our team as we build a new Database Engineering (DE) practice. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining our database systems. As a Database Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our databases to support the organization's data-driven initiatives that are responsible for the company’s revenue-generating databases. Experience in on-premises and cloud platforms is equally applicable.
You will be able to:
- Database Architecture and Design:
- Collaborate with the team to design and implement scalable and efficient database architectures.
- Deliver the development and maintenance of data models, schemas, and structures.
- Document all relevant processes related to database design, configuration, and performance.
- Performance Optimization
- Monitor and support database systems (IaaS / PaaS) to ensure optimized performance and automation wherever possible.
- Perform debugging procedures on database scripts and programs, as well as resolving conflicts. Implement indexing and query optimization strategies.
- Adhere to best practices in securely operating, storing, backing up, and archiving data. This includes the governance, quality, and strategy of standards within the team.
- Database Administration
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of database systems, including backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as applying patches and updates.
- Implement and enforce database security measures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry/company best practices.
- Respond to and resolve database-related (incidents) in a timely manner.
- Provide support for application developers and end-users in database-related matters.
- Data Modeling and handling
- Develop and maintain data models to support application development and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with application developers to ensure effective integration with the database.
- Plan and execute data migration and transformation tasks when necessary.
- Collaboration
- Assist architects and development teams by designing new databases(or changing existing ones) to meet the organization's application and data storage needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the CTO organization: Compliance, Security, Cloud Operations, and Engineering.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand and address database-related requirements.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in database engineering.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance the team's capabilities.
What will help you succeed in this role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ Years of experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or similar role
- 5+ Years of experience working with SQL.
- 2+ Years of experience working with CI/CD.
- 2+ Years of experience working with NonSQL Databases.
- Advanced English Level is required for this role as you will work with US clients. Effective communication in English is essential to deliver the best solutions to our clients and expand your horizons.
