Overview
As an Engineering Manager, Sportsbook Platform at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you will be a technical leader with the ability to grow and scale engineering teams. In this role, you will lead a team of back end engineers focused on improving our applications that utilizes the JVM ecosystem. Your team will be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining the software to provide Fanatics Betting and Gaming the capability to push content to the front-end applications, accept bets, and settle bets
Responsibilities
- Manage a team responsible for developing and supporting software that is functional and robust to provide an awesome fan experience.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise within the engineering vertical.
- Build a team that will deliver software while adhering (and contributing) to engineering best practices.
- Communicate, develop, and implement a data-driven engineering strategy, approach, and roadmap for Engineering needs.
- Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, inside and outside of Engineering, and collaborate with leaders to gather and present testing metrics and activities.
- Provide clear updates (KPIs, status, metrics) to an executive audience and key stakeholders.
- Remain current on technology and trends in engineering.
- Must be open to occasional travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands on software development experience3+ years of experience mentoring software engineers
- Experience with Agile methodology and scrum practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of complex solutions at scale
- Positive and flexible attitude to work in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to embrace new initiatives.
- Experience in start-ups is a plus.
- Partner closely with engineering teams (and vendors) and implement appropriate tools and practices that balance quality with productivity
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Highly outcome oriented and data driven
- Excellent influencing and problem resolution skills
- Experience with Java and SpringBoot preferred
- Experience managing remote teams preferred
