We are crafting a world unlike any other, and we need a visionary game developer to join us. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new web3 life simulation multiplayer game for PC, set in a fresh and engaging IP.

As the Lead Game UI/UX Designer you will be pivotal in shaping the gameplay experience from the players' perspective. You'll work closely with Game Designers, UI Artists, Programmers, and User Research to make sure the player experience is understandable, accessible, and engaging. You’ll guide a team of experienced UI Artists and UX Designers, finding opportunities to shape the game we make and mentor ambitious designers. This position will be responsible for leading a growing team, establishing direction, consistency and helping to establish the game’s Identity.

As part of the leads team you will report to the Game Director and will collaborate with the other department leads to ensure alignment and continuity across teams. As the Lead Game UI/UX Designer you will provide feedback and communicate execution standards to guide the UX vision of the game; allowing the team creative flexibility and support wherever needed. Finding and maintaining the right balance between quality and speed is a top priority, and you’ll ensure that our assets are both on time, at quality bar, and performant in engine.

This role is anticipated to be a remote work position, with some occasional travel involved.

Responsibilities

As the Lead Game UI/UX Designer for My Neighbor Alice, you will play a critical role in conceptualizing and implementing the UI & UX for the game. Working directly with the game director you will collaborate with the Art Director and Lead Game Designer to establish and maintain the game's UX design ethos, faithfully executing the game's vision.

  • Evaluating, communicating, and evolving the overall gameplay vision together with Directors, other Leads, and the rest of the Gameplay team.

  • Translating and communicating the Directors' vision into tangible designs and features together with your team.

  • Providing UX expertise (best practices and solutions) to multiple game features.

  • Designing logic, layout, flow, and prototypes of UI menus and elements that support various gameplay features and accessibility principles.

  • Work with Art Direction to establish direction and create a UI style guide.

  • Ensuring consistent UI/UX solutions across the game, for a familiar style and ease of use.

  • Designing onboarding solutions for new game concepts, mechanics and the web3 environment

  • Managing the UI/UX team and ensuring the quality of the department's work is at a high level.

  • Facilitate communication between designers, artists and developers to ensure a holistic user experience

Requirements

  • 8+ years of game development experience.

  • 5+ years of experience as a UX Designer, UI Artist or both, having worked on game projects

  • Excellent UX design and related technical skill sets (wireframing, prototyping, user & screen flows, mockups, UI design)

  • Highly Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and/or Figma (or other wireframing software)

  • Solid understanding of UX design principles, information & product architecture, interface & design thinking, service design, and various research techniques

  • Understanding of psychological concepts that keep players engaged

  • A strong sense of what makes a gameplay experience compelling and fun

  • Fundamental technical understanding of game engines such as Unity

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience working on larger projects working with various stakeholders and diverse, multidisciplinary game teams

  • Tactful and strong communicator, able to mobilize and inspire

  • Able to help a team get on board with a direction, but also pitch ideas to leadership

  • Excellent knowledge/reasoning when it comes to game development and the realities of production, both from technical and conceptual standpoints

  • Critical with a keen sense of observation, and able to express their ideas clearly

  • Independent, rigorous and equipped with excellent organizational skills

  • Passionate about video games, especially multiplayer or MMO games

  • Basic knowledge of blockchain and web3 technologies

Extra Points

  • Passion and knowledge of Blockchain & Web3

  • Familiarity with the web3 game space

  • Familiarity with social simulation games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley

  • Experience with Motion Design

  • Experience working with Game Communities and Marketing teams

  • Experience or interest in other disciplines (Design, engineering, etc.).
