IT Operations @ Wealthsimple


We have a high-performing IT team, one that is offering the critical daily support we all need. They’re looking for a talented new person, someone who can help keep our network and AV systems well-oiled and provide any necessary related services. Someone that's as obsessed with networking, AV and technology as the rest of the team. The successful candidate will work closely with the IT team, as the additional tech support hero/heroine that Wealthsimplers deserve. Your focus will be on building and maintaining our physical networks in our spaces, supporting our AV integrations and helping other Wealthsimplers get the face-to-face help they need to get their jobs done. This role offers the right person the opportunity to help guide Wealthsimple's IT division in its mission to make our lives better, and simple.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Design, build and configure the network infrastructure in our physical spaces
  • Build out reporting and monitoring tools for the networks
  • Work with our security teams to ensure our on-prem work is safe and secure and our guests have a great experience
  • Troubleshoot and maintain our AV infrastructure
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and inventory our equipment while providing Wealthsimplers with top-notch technical and moral support, escalating when necessary
  • Schedule and perform audiovisual preventative maintenance, firmware and software upgrades. Plan equipment upgrades ensuring uniform solutions
  • Help to develop and maintain technical documentation and processes
  • Proactively identify opportunities to make things better. Suggest improvements and deploy new technologies to support Wealthsimple's rapid growth
  • Use a ticketing system for tracking issues, troubleshooting, user support and internal communications
  • Work with a dynamic team where roles are fluid but goals are unified. Expect to learn skills beyond the role, and continuously improve your craft
  • Build relationships and trust both with the immediate team as well as our internal customers


We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a passion for network infrastructure with 3+ years of experience providing network support and configuration
  • Is familiar with common network monitoring tools and methods
  • Has experience providing audiovisual support in both a corporate office environment as well as to remote users.
  • Entry-level familiarity with A/V and remote presence technologies, both hardware and software (eg. Zoom, Meet, Teams)
  • Has exceptional communication skills coupled with the ability to maintain a solid working relationship with other internal teams
  • Plans, organizes, and schedules in an efficient, productive manner
  • Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and copes effectively with complexity and change
  • Is eager to teach and learn from your team. We value making each other successful!
  • Is willing to find solutions to problems you've never seen before and distill complex problems into simple solutions
  • A creative mind for solving problems outside-the-box
  • Is interested in a hybrid work environment


Skills we are looking for:
  • Knowledge of network and AV industry standards, manufacturers and technologies 
  • Exposure to drafting schematics and diagrams using software like AutoCAD, Lucidchart or Illustrator
  • Has experience setting up and maintaining SNMP servers and related open source software
  • Familiarity with basic networking security concepts (eg network segmentation, RADIUS, MAC whitelisting)
  • Experience with a wide range of audiovisual technologies as well as the desire to learn and play with new tools
  • An understanding of more physical procedures like infrastructure rough-in, cabling, rack building, system troubleshooting and system verification (our vendors do most of the physical work, but a proper understanding of the build process is important)
  • Experience working with a ticketing system (e.g. Zendesk or Jira Service Desk)
  • Comfortable with setting up or troubleshooting the occasional Mac or PC
  • Strong comprehension of productivity suites such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
  • Ability to lift up to 30+ lbs (on occasion)


Nice to have (but not necessary):
  • Worked with a cloud-managed network stack like Meraki or Ubiquiti
  • Experience with Python
  • Set up SNMP servers on cloud based infrastructure and set up open source reporting
  • Experience working in an environment where almost all AV equipment is connected to a network. Having worked with technologies like Dante or AES67, video streaming, digital signage and video walls is a plus.
  • You have experience at a startup, in the finance industry or at a well-known enterprise
