Description

Doist’s mission is to build the future of work.

While the “future of work” concept has floated around as a trendy catchall, appearing in bland blog titles and uninspiring corporate webinars, do not be mistaken: Doist’s future of work is not their future of work.

Their future of work is more pings, tracking, and meetings. It’s trying to force the square peg of antiquated office work into the round and limitless circle of what work can be.

They approach the future of work from the past. We approach the future of work without assumptions. We're not incrementally improving upon the past. We're questioning everything and radically rethinking what's possible.

As Doist builds the future of work, many more people across the globe will thrive, both professionally and personally.

By relying on our best-in-class tools like Todoist and Twist, and inspiration from our very own workflows we will empower people to turn their big ideas into reality by focusing on meaningful, high-value work. And we will enable people from anywhere to participate in the global economy, thanks to more effective collaboration across time zones and continents.

About the position

We are looking for Head of Apple who is passionate about high-quality software that powers long-lasting products. Heads at Doist hold the responsibility of leading and supporting their team, planning and strategizing for their platform, while retaining functional expertise.

People leadership:

  • You will grow and support a world-class team of developers who are highly autonomous and productive. You will be responsible for setting them up for success while providing guidance along the way.

  • You will expand and reorganize the team and its processes as context changes. You will ensure that tooling and workflows are appropriate. You will be critical of the status quo.

  • You will empower each individual to make decisions and move forward with as little dependencies as possible, delegating often and thoroughly.

  • You will ensure the team brainstorms and documents high-level ideas, goals, and best practices. You will encourage knowledge sharing.

Strategy and planning:

  • You will drive the vision for the Apple platform and technical strategy behind it.

  • You will plan work to strike a healthy balance between feature development, short-term and long-term improvements, so that we can confidently rely on our codebases for years to come.

  • You will be a coordinator and communicator between various technical and non-technical stakeholders, such as other Engineering teams, Product, and Support.

  • You will collaborate with other Engineering leaders and help shape Engineering at Doist as a whole. You will report to the CTO.

  • Internally, you'll help plan each work cycle by reviewing priorities, availability, and optimal matching of people to projects. You will periodically share updates so that everyone is aware of what's going on behind the scenes.

Functional expertise:

  • You will lead the team end-to-end, including on technical matters.

  • You will retain a strong technical intuition by staying partially hands-on where most impactful, such as R&D and supporting projects out of the critical path.

  • You will leverage your experience and technical intuition to ask questions and start discussions that drive the team's technical plans and overall strategy.

  • You understand that engineering management is a technical discipline that requires you to engage in technical decision-making. You realize that technical instincts, continuously honed, are vital for guiding that process.
