The team:
When it comes to telling the world about Jobber, Marketing is your department. They handle everything from spreading awareness, to answering “What’s Jobber?,” to getting new customers in the door, to turning those customers into Jobber advocates!
The role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Website Strategy, the Manager, Front-End Development, will play a pivotal role in managing and growing the front end development team. In addition, you will be heavily involved in the strategic direction of the website strategy team, in how we work, and what we work on.
The Manager, Front-End Development will:
- Live and breathe performance management. You work with your team to help them master their individual crafts, while also collaborating to build extraordinary online experiences.
- Be committed to the success of your people. You will help them set goals, have regular 1-on-1s, and provide constructive feedback and coaching to ensure your team's success. You’ll work to understand employees’ career direction and work to empower their journey by acting as a mentor and coach.
- Develop a world-class front-end development team. You’ll bring a multi-year vision and recommendations on how the team should grow as part of the broader marketing organization.
- Remove roadblocks and build guardrails. You’ll work with leaders at Jobber to create and maintain an environment where the team can rapidly produce top-quality work.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders across the business. Whether it’s within the Marketing department or teams from different departments, you’ll work closely with a variety of stakeholders to support, provide guidance, and help execute on web projects.
- Establish and enforce team best practices. You’ll establish processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Be a technical expert. As a technical leader, you’ll be the subject matter expert for everything front-end development and technical on jobber.com
To be successful, you should have:
- Proven experience in front-end development, with a strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
- Experience in a leadership position, managing and growing a team. You’ll bring your shared experience into conversations to influence and provide constructive feedback to direct reports to ensure goals are being met and exceeded
- The ability to be agile in an agile environment. You’ll need to be able to lead and teach your team to adapt to change, while also thinking critically and creatively to find answers to problems.
- Strong communication skills. Being transparent with your team and establishing an open dialogue will be a key to success in supporting your coaching conversations and discussions.
- Be a collaborator. You’ll work with your direct reports or other teams to understand what they want to accomplish and develop a plan to achieve it.
