Founded in 2021 in response to the rise in anti-Asian hate and to address the long-standing underinvestment in AAPI communities, TAAF funds best in class organizations working to mobilize against hate and violence, educate communities, and reclaim our narratives through our core pillars of Anti-Hate, Education, Narrative Change, and Resources & Representation. About the Role

The content writer plays a critical role on the national Communications team by providing expertise in web and social writing, brand-centered storytelling, and speech writing. They will work closely with the Head of Communications and Creative Manager to help shape TAAF’s narrative across owned channels (social and website) and newsletter; develop marketing materials; and draft speeches and remarks for TAAF leadership. The optimal candidate works strategically with transparency and accountability, embraces a culture of learning, works respectfully with compassion, kindness and gratitude, and seeks to be inclusive and collaborative in their decision making. Understanding the start-up dynamic of TAAF, the candidate must be able to work in a sometimes ambiguous environment that will be iterative, requiring creativity, flexibility, and humor.

 

Responsibilities

  • Produce quality writing that connects with target audiences and boosts engagement
  • Promote TAAF’s mission and vision through clear, compelling storytelling
  • Draft and edit communications materials such as website, newsletter, internal and external presentations, and social media copy
  • Develop remarks and/or talking points for TAAF leadership’s speaking engagements with guidance from communications leads
  • Increase website traffic by leveraging SEO best practices
  • Copyedit TAAF research with Data + Research team before publication
  • Stay current on marketing and general industry trends to augment content development
  • Work closely with social media strategist to build out editorial calendar
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support content development needs
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Head of Communications and/or Creative Manager

 

Job Requirements

Experience

  • Five or more years of experience as a content writer or copywriter
  • Familiarity with impact storytelling and writing for philanthropic organizations

Working Hours

  • Requires occasional weekend, off-hours, or evening work

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • TAAF provides competitive compensation and benefits including health insurance (including dental and vision) and a 401k retirement plan to all employees
  • Anticipated salary for this position is $85,000
  • New York City and San Francisco-based staff work in the office 2 days per week and the other days remotely
