About the Position
Foursquare is looking for a Staff Engineer - Full Stack & Data Engineering to join our team! While we would prefer candidates based in or around our office hubs in New York City, Chicago, Seattle, or San Francisco, we're also open to considering remote applicants for this role.
The successful candidate will join the Foursquare Studio team. The Studio team set out to bring the most advanced geospatial technologies to the world that are powerful and easy to use. The team is building an analytics platform for accessing, enriching, analyzing, and visualizing geospatial data. We serve a variety of different customers and use cases from in-depth reporting to advanced geospatial visualization.
We are seeking a talented full-stack Engineer with a strong background in Data Engineering to join the Studio team. The ideal candidate will have experience in both front-end and back-end development and an understanding of data pipelines, data architecture, and data integration. This role involves designing and implementing scalable web applications and robust data systems, ensuring seamless data flow and high-performance analytics.
In this role, you’ll
- Develop and maintain web applications using web technologies
- Design, build, and manage data pipelines for efficient data processing and integration
- Implement and optimize database systems and data warehouses
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Ensure web applications and data systems' scalability, reliability, and performance
- Implement best practices in coding, data management, and data security
- Continuously improve and update skills in emerging technologies and methodologies
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field
- A minimum of 7 years experience in full-stack development and data engineering
- Experience with front-end programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Typescript
- Strong experience with backend frameworks, particularly in a Node.js environment
- Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
- Solid understanding of data engineering concepts: ETL processes, data warehousing, data lakes
- Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
- Knowledge of data integration tools and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)

At Foursquare, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry and market standards. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, and specific office location.
The annual total cash compensation range is $148,000 - $242,250, however actual salaries can vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies, as well as location.
Salary is just one component of Foursquare’s total compensation package, which includes restricted stock units, multiple health insurance options, and a wide range of benefits!
