Bit Reactor is looking for a Cinematic Designer to support the setup, integration, and maintenance of real-time, in-engine cutscenes. This role requires working with the Cinematic and Narrative Teams and communicating across various departments to problem-solve and ensure cinematic content is easily implemented into the engine while meeting the artistic goals and avoiding conflicts with other aspects of the game. You must have a sense of how gameplay and cinematics work together to create unified experience and emotionally compelling moments.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create compelling scenes with excellent pacing, acting, cinematography, editing and timing.
  • Script in-game cinematic and gameplay moments using Blueprint and Sequencer.
  • Integrate cinematic content into Unreal Engine.
  • Prototyping and communicating the needs for cinematics across multiple disciplines
  • Communicate with Designers, Artists, Lighting, and VFX to ensure the readability of visual storytelling and to ensure that the cinematics you implement blend seamlessly into the gameplay.
  • Debug potential problems in and around cinematics. 
  • Following and maintaining pipelines and technical requirements while identifying opportunities for tool improvements and efficiencies.
  • Participate in reviews, stand-ups, playtests, and work across departments.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for tasks and meet production deadlines .
  • Guide locked scenes to final while achieving technical efficiency and supporting asset performance and validation.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years of development experience working in interactive cinematics for games.
  • Experience with cinematic language, frame composition, pacing, tone, and narrative structure.
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine 4 or 5 including Sequencer, Blueprints as it pertains to cinematic moments, visual scripting, and asset integration.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, and video editing software is a plus.
  • Used to collaborating with colleagues across different departments to clearly communicate and present ideas.
  • Familiarity with branching dialogue and RPG interaction mechanics.

 

Bit Reactor prefers to hire candidates who are willing to relocate to Hunt Valley, Maryland, but is open to remote options.
