About The Role
Braze is looking for an experienced leader to act as head strategist and editor-in-chief to take our content program to the next level. Your responsibilities will include reimagining the foundation–content purpose, editorial calendar, reporting, format, our blog, long-form, event content, and digital strategy–deeply understanding Braze’s audience, defining our global content roadmap, leading a team of writers and content marketers, and guiding resonant and industry-leading event content. Your goals will include driving brand awareness amongst marketing professionals, reinforcing our category leadership, generating qualified leads, educating our customers and prospects, and enabling our sales and marketing organizations.
We’re looking for a strategic storyteller with insatiable creativity and a penchant for experimentation. In other words: you have a lot of cool ideas, are quick to execute, and are inclined to optimize. You should be comfortable expounding on technical topics and leveraging data to create attention-grabbing pieces. Your audience-centric mindset will guide you to generate deliverables that are helpful and unique to Braze and our customers, prospects, and partners.
This will be a highly cross-functional role, expected to work across our Marketing, Strategic Consulting, Sales, and Growth functions as well as with external stakeholders such as partners, customers, and editorial freelancers. We’re looking for someone who’s done it before, and wants to do it again at 10x – guides, blog posts, SEO articles, events, webinars, videos, and more.

What You’ll Do
- Be the owner of our annual hero guide, the Content Engagement Review (CER), and be proficient in translating large amounts of data into segmented narratives that appeal to and are influential for all regions and all levels of marketers and technologists. The CER is used throughout the year and across multiple formats and channels
- Act as our company advocate for content marketing best practices and help formulate Braze’s POV as an industry leader
- Develop and execute on an ambitious and evolving content strategy. From that, craft actionable goals and create quarterly marketing editorial plans and thematic calendars
- Act as exceptional player-coach, building and managing a content team, event content marketers
- Apply a holistic approach to integrated marketing campaign strategies to ensure a unified experience for target audiences across all stages of the journey
- Recommend different content types appropriate to associated channels to reach multiple personas “where they live”
- Work closely with demand generation on developing a measurable and results-driven content distribution strategy including social /channel distribution
- Work with regional content marketers and leaders to execute an efficient localization strategy
- Develop and oversee a “test-and-learn” plan to drive growth through new channels and formats
- Partner with Product and Brand as well as PR/Communications to craft compelling global narratives and messaging
- Deeply understand our Ideal Customer Profile segments and conduct audience and competitor research; Stay on top of industry developments, news, and trends so that we publish content that resonates with Braze target prospects and customers
- Collaborate with external contributors – partners, freelancers, and customers – to contribute to our content program; Leverage the latest technology to assist with content creation, SEO optimization, and data analysis; Partner closely with the SEO team and regularly review scaled content for quality
- Ensure consistent tone and brand across all content and target audiences while continuously analyzing and optimizing performance; Train internal teams on editorial best practices to scale content production at Braze
- Measure, analyze, and report on content performance – inclusive of audits of existing content performance to refresh and adjust for emerging priorities
- Develop and implement standards, systems, best practices, and templates for content, and continually raise the bar for the company’s editorial standards, specifically optimizing for search
- Evaluate existing content marketing tools and technology and identify potential for future upgrades

- You inspire creative teams and encourage innovative ideas, whilst also having a mindset of process improvement and the ability to create efficiencies to increase the team’s proficiency and productivity
- You can take and receive large quantities of loud feedback and incorporate it accordingly
- You are someone with excellent interpersonal skills who can properly navigate a highly-charged and diverse set of stakeholders–up, down, and across–all with their own priorities and initiatives
- You possess a strong portfolio that demonstrates versatility and experience within a range of content formats and a knack for simplifying the complex
- You have experience developing multi-audience, full funnel B2B content journeys and incredible content experiences, as well as the associated KPIs for measuring success of these efforts
- You have impeccable writing for marketing, martech, SaaS and B2B and have acted as an editor-in-chief
- You have the ability to prioritize multiple, demanding tasks simultaneously and with accuracy
- You have proficiency with project management and content marketing platforms, including Asana, Uberflip, PathFactory, etc.
For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $176,000 and $192,000/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $220,000 and $240,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, Braze offers full- and part- time employees a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that all Braze employees own a piece of our company.
